Child-friendly interview room

Department of Social Services, Jihlava (Czech Republic)

In the spirit of the provisions of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention), Jihlava (Czech Republic) has created a child-friendly interview room in which its specially-trained staff can interview victims of abuse without the risk of aggravating the trauma experienced by the child.

Interviews are video-taped and these tapes are used in court in lieu of the victim giving evidence in person.

The picture shows Josef Kodet, Deputy Lord Mayor of Jihlava, Jozef Labuda, Head of the Jihlava Social Services Department, and Johan van den Hout, Congress Thematic Spokesperson on Children, during his visit to the Czech Republic from 8 to 10 September 2014.
